All the satisfaction of a burger, none of the bun carbs.
Ingredients
- 6 oz 93% lean ground turkey (formed into one large patty)
- 2 large lettuce leaves (for bun)
- 2 tbsp guacamole (or ¼ avocado, smashed)
- 1 slice tomato
- 2 tbsp red onion, sliced
- Mustard (1 tsp — yellow or Dijon)
- Salt, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper
- Optional: 1 oz low-fat pepper jack cheese
Directions
- Mix turkey with salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
Form into a ¾-inch thick patty.
- Cook on a grill pan or cast iron pan over medium-high heat, 5 min per side.
Let rest 3 minutes before serving.
- Use large lettuce leaves as the top and bottom “bun.”
- Layer: lettuce → patty → cheese (if using) → tomato → onion → guacamole → mustard → lettuce.
Notes
Basting the patty with a thin brush of olive oil prevents sticking and adds flavor. Turkey burgers are drier than beef — cook to 165°F internal temperature but avoid overcooking. Adding ¼ cup finely diced mushrooms to the raw meat adds moisture and umami.
