Jell-O, Sugar Free, Homemade
Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp. Beef Gelatin
- 2 cups water
- 3/4 cup Monk Fruit Sweetener
- 1 packet unsweetened Kool-Aid
For Jell-O with fruit juice
- 1 Tbsp. Beef Gelatin
- 2 cups fruit juice (unsweetened works very well)
Directions
Bloom the gelatin
- Put the water is a pan and sprinkle the gelatin over it.
- Let is sit for about 5 minutes until it looks like “applesauce” and stir.
- Make the Jell-O:
- Mix in sweetener and Kool-aid powder
Turn the induction burner to 180 degrees F
- Stir occasionally while the mixture heats up until thoroughly dissolved (about 2 to 3 minutes)
- Remove from heat, pour into containers, and Chill until firm
Notes
1 Cup liquid to 1/2 tablespoon beef gelatin
You should always add gelatin to cold liquid first to “bloom” it, letting it absorb water and swell (like applesauce), then stir the bloomed gelatin into a warm or hot (not boiling) liquid to fully dissolve it for a smooth set; boiling water can damage gelatin’s structure, making it weak or ineffective. I find 180 degrees F on the induction burner works perfect.
